The first step in the process is to fill out our Puppy Info Request form. We will then email you information on our current or upcoming litters. At the moment, we are operating with a master waiting list. In order to be placed on this list or reserve an untrained puppy, you must place a 20%, non-refundable (but transferable) deposit. Trained puppies require a 50% deposit. The remaining balance is due at or before pickup.
We will match you to a puppy with a temperament, disposition, activity level, and pack placement that will fit your family.
Once the puppies have received their vaccinations at 6 weeks of age, we traditionally host a play date for our families that are on that litter. This is an opportunity for you to visit the pups, get some puppy love & meet the parents. For biosecurity reasons, this is the earliest that any of our puppies will have outside visitors.
What you are spending the money on is the experience, the upbringing, the high quality food we feed, the tested parents, the known backgrounds, our availability and willingness to answer your questions, before, during and after the whole puppy buying process, and our guarantee. Our puppies are guaranteed for up to a year against genetic health defects in accordance with California State Guidelines. If you continue to feed your pup the high-quality food and vitamins we use we will guarantee till the pup’s 3rd birthday against hereditary defects: Hip or Elbow Dysplasia, Heart Murmur, Cataracts.
The costs for our pups vary based on breed, coat, and training level.
The starting cost for our untrained Vizslas is $3,500. Our untrained non-cream Goldens start at $5,000 and our untrained Cream Goldens start at $6,000.
Our Vaccination protocol: ( Canine 1-DAPPv+Cv is recommended for the vaccination of healthy dogs against diseases caused by canine Distemper, Adenovirus Type 1 (Hepatitis), Adenovirus Type 2 (Respiratory Disease), Parainfluenza, Parvovirus and Coronavirus. )
4 week NEOPAR (this is only to protect them against this 1 Virus: Parvovirus )
6 week DAPPv+CR and Bordetella
8 week DAPPv+CR
we would continue with DAPPvL2+CR and Bordetella at 12 week and a 16 week.
We deworm our pups with Pyrantle at 3, 4, 5 & 7 weeks of age. Then Monthly if they are here with us in training.
Our 8-week old untrained pups are crate trained and most of them are sleeping through the night without accidents. For a “potty trained” puppy, you will need to inquire about our training program. Trained pups stay with us & learn basic obedience, house & crate training.
With our trained dogs you are also paying for the daily and nightly training that began at 7 weeks of age. The average price for a boarding/training facility to work with your dog for about 28 days is $5,000, but also factor in the average cost to repair damaged furniture, your grumpy neighbors, dug up yards, injuries from leash pulling, restless nights, and embarrassment from friends and families over an untrained dog and you have enter a whole new level of cost.
But here at Golden Meadows we don’t just focus on the Obedience but on the dog’s manners and sociability as we train them to be great Canine Companions.
We have a number of dogs that have gone on to become working dogs in all aspects of service work, from CCI, ES, Therapy etc. In our training program we prioritize Obedience, manners and leash etiquette. We also begin the public access training once the dog is vaccinated enough for fieldtrips.
You can use the link Ofa.com search Gldnmeadows to look at ALL of our dogs through the years & their testing.
You can click on any name, it will show you the test results for hips, elbows , heart & eyes.
It will also show the parents, siblings & any offspring that have been tested.
We have also recently added the DNA panel for PRA1 & PRA2 plus a host of other genetic tests.
We are still in the process of getting all of the dogs currently in our program cleared through the DNA panel.
Even with over 10 generations of health tested dogs in our breeding program, we will occasionally still have a dog with genetic health issues.
We are dealing with live animals & despite doing everything possible to lessen the chances of a genetic issue it does sometimes happen.
Due to a change in the Animal Welfare Act, as of November 18, 2013, we are unable to send your dog to you without you being in the same location as the dog at some point. You can read more about our shipping policy here.
In order to be added to the master waiting list, you must fill out our Puppy Info Request form. We will then email you with information on our current or upcoming litters. If you would like to be added to the master waiting list, you must place a non-refundable deposit.
When we have a pup available for you we will contact you with an email that describes the parents & the puppies, as well as timing. If for any reason you would prefer to wait for a different litter you are welcome to let us know & we will move to the next person on our waiting list. Of course, you are always welcome to contact us & inquire on how long your estimated wait time will be.
All of our dogs are placed with limited AKC registration, which means that they are not to be used for breeding. We also have a no breeding clause in our Bill of Sale contract.
We do provide stud service to approved bitches.
